The International Ladies Club was founded in 1976 by a small group of foreign-born women living in Kingwood who enjoyed meeting socially on a regular basis to share their experiences and to offer each other friendship and support.
Our club’s mission is primarily a social one: to allow women from any part of the world to interact with each other in friendship and to let them share their interest in the world, in its fascinating peoples, its fabulous cultures and its stellar diversity. In that frame of mind, the club is open to everyone.
In addition to friendship and support to foreign-born women, allowing them to quickly adapt in their new surroundings, our ILC club brings to the Kingwood community the richness of our diverse cultures, including:
- Glimpses into exotic visual and performing arts such as our Celebration of the South Indian Culture last spring;
- Enriching culinary experiences such as our ethnic potluck luncheons;
- History and geography presentations such as our “East meets West” talk in February, and
- A linguistic resource for the local schools as our members help out foreign students and their parents.
Throughout the 30+ years of its existence, the ILC has consistently supported local organizations such as H.A.A.M., Family Time, The Door, The Society of St.Stephen and VLAC. We also support KIVA and HAWP (Help Afghan Women Project.)
Our ILC is woven into the fabric of the local community and we encourage all of you to help us carry on our mission.

The purpose of our minimal board is to organize us as a group, to facilitate communications, meetings and activities. The board is composed of volunteers who each bring their own personalities, life experiences and interests, affecting the board’s “flavor” each year.
We do not promote anyone’s business in particular and will not advertise anything which does not clearly have a cultural, educational or community purpose.
- The regular meeting of the Club shall be the third Thursday of the months of September through May, unless changed by the board.
- Any person who identifies with the objective of the club and has an international background, international interest or international connections can become a member of the club.
- Member dues are payable as of May for the upcoming year. The directory of paid members is published by October 15th.
- Only members whose dues are paid, are entitled to vote. Members are invited to select parties or events. Guests can accompany paid members to the monthly meeting.
Each of you is encouraged to help with any of the club’s activities. This is your club! We look forward to receiving your input!
